ReVolt Motors Debuts with First Series Hybrid Truck in the U.S. With About 40% Fuel Savings

Truck technology provider is the first to make hybrid drivetrain accessible to U.S. truckers

First-of-its-Kind Classic Peterbilt 379 with series hybrid drivetrain to be unveiled at Mid-America Trucking Show

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ReVolt Motors is launching as the only U.S.-based company offering commercial fleets and owner-operators hybrid drivetrain solutions that deliver unmatched performance and efficiency while still reducing emissions. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the engineering and design company is set to turn heads at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, March 27-29, 2025, with the unveiling of a first-of-its-kind retrofit of an iconic Peterbilt 379 with a series hybrid engine.

Designed specifically with the American trucker in mind, ReVolt has set out to use common sense and build a better truck. With the simple flip of a switch, drivers can change from using a diesel generator on the open road to operating on electricity in areas with zero-emissions mandates. The truck also provides 3,500 lbs.-ft. of torque and 670 horsepower to handle the toughest freight jobs with ease.

“Drivers should not have to choose between losing their longtime routes because of changing regulatory environments or losing the truck in which they have already made significant investments,” said Gus Gardner, ReVolt Motors founder and CEO. “American truckers want their trucks to reflect their identity, and our retrofit technology allows them to continue driving the trucks they love while still making a living.”

ReVolt’s retrofit solution offers a significantly more affordable option than purchasing a new electric truck, which can exceed $500,000 even before adding customized features and accessories. The retrofit also eliminates the need for a separate auxiliary power unit (APU) to power the sleeper cab without idling the main engine, providing drivers with nearly endless heat and AC.

Further cost savings are realized from the fuel efficiency generated by a ReVolt truck. The truck can achieve at least 12 miles per gallon in targeted applications and generate about 40% in fuel savings.

In addition to cost and efficiency, ReVolt trucks are built for peak performance. Its impressive 130,000 gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is ideal for heavy-duty hauling.

ReVolt’s hybrid system seamlessly charges the truck batteries through the range extender and regenerative braking, so there’s no need to waste hours at an EV charger or worry about running out of power before reaching a charging station. This hassle-free solution keeps drivers on the road making money, not stuck on the side.

Beyond reliability, ReVolt's technology delivers significant environmental benefits. Given that the U.S. trucking industry accounts for 25% of the transportation sector's carbon emissions, ReVolt empowers drivers to adopt a cleaner future for freight transport. The hybrid system can slash carbon emissions by 40%, even with diesel fuel usage, positioning the vehicle for EPA certification as a near-zero emissions solution.
