m/SIX Names Ray Romero Chief Digital Officer, North America

NEW YORK--()--m/SIX, a full service media agency backed by GroupM, announced today it has named media industry veteran Ray Romero as the firm’s chief digital officer for North America. In the newly created role, Romero will oversee the fast-growing agency’s digital efforts and technology investment with a focus on empowering advertisers to reach consumers in a meaningful and personalized manner wherever they access media.

“m/SIX brings a refreshingly modern approach to the media business, pairing unparalleled data intelligence with creativity and deep human insight”

Romero brings nearly two decades of media industry experience to the position, most recently serving as chief digital officer at MetaVision Media where he led the agency’s digital and data strategy, including managing the firm’s programmatic trading desk. Prior to MetaVision, he was vice president for digital activation at Horizon Media. Throughout his career Romero has played a hands-on role helping advertisers navigate the entire consumer journey from upper funnel brand building to conversion-driven performance marketing. Clients he has worked with include Nestlé, PepsiCo, Burger King, Visa, Hershey’s, Mondelez, Vonage and Virgin Atlantic.

“Ray has played a pioneering role in extending the capabilities of the data-driven marketing ecosystem, helping brands deploy increasingly effective, accountable and consumer-friendly digital initiatives,” said Ilana Nolte, president, North America at m/SIX. “We are thrilled to welcome him to m/SIX and look forward to his leadership as we continue to build new models of engagement for our growing client list.”

Romero joins m/SIX following a year of rapid growth as the firm doubled in size from forty to more than eighty staffers alongside a raft of new business wins including Manulife / John Hancock, Chico’s, AstraZeneca, Bowlero Corporation and Giant Eagle. Recent highlights include launching the John Hancock Retirement Community digital content series starring comedians Pete Holmes and Jamie Lee and copping the award for “Most Effective Media Agency” at The Drum’s 2017 Digital Trading Awards.

“m/SIX brings a refreshingly modern approach to the media business, pairing unparalleled data intelligence with creativity and deep human insight,” said Romero. “The agency has been on an incredible tear over the past few years and I am excited to help our growing client list in using our best in class technology to forge stronger and more effective consumer connections.”

Romero’s expertise in connecting marketing to business results includes launching the industry’s first pay-for-engagement programmatic offering, which allowed marketers to pay for ads based on audience engagement metrics rather than traditional CPMs. In addition to his roles at MetaVision and Horizon, Romero has also worked at DDB and OMD. Industry honors include being named a Marketers Choice Media Innovator and a Broadcasting & Cable Digital All-Star.
