Seneca Announces Focus on Permanency Has Resulted in No Child Returned to Foster Care; Announces First Forever Families Gala to Celebrate Achievements

Event Co-Chaired by Mary and Patrick Dirk and Erin and Gary Lastinger

SANTA ANA, Calif.--()--Seneca Family of Agencies, an organization dedicated to providing a continuum of services aimed at supporting children’s mental health, placement in forever families, and achieving success in school across Southern California, is celebrating its 100% success rate in placing children from foster care in forever homes over the last 35 years. The national average of adoptions that remain permanent after finalization is 75%- which means as many as 25% of children are returned to the foster care system by a family who was unable to provide a forever home. Yet, through Seneca, children like Jimmy and Jonny, who spent two years in foster care, were able to stand up at their finalization hearing and tell the judge that they wanted to be adopted by the O Family. Last year alone, Seneca facilitated 120 adoptions in Southern California!

“We are truly honored to be a part of this event”

In celebration of these achievements and to raise much-needed money to provide the support necessary to maintain 100% permanency, Seneca is having its first ever Forever Families Gala on November 10th at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach. Co-chaired by Mary and Patrick Dirk of the TROY Group and Erin and Gary Lastinger of the A. Gary Anderson Foundation, the event will honor the achievements of families like the O Family!

“We are truly honored to be a part of this event,” said Patrick Dirk. “This Gala provides the opportunity to improve the course of a child’s life by providing a forever family alongside Seneca – and we are excited and honored to help.”

“With Seneca’s commitment to Unconditional Care, 100% of adoptions in Orange County remain permanent and we look forward to helping continue this for families and children,” said Erin Lastinger.
