CHICAGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) has been named to the 2019 Vault Accounting 50, recognized for the ninth consecutive year and taking its place among the best accounting firms to work for in North America.
“It is tremendous recognition from our employees and peers—a reflection of our reputation for providing outstanding accounting and advisory services and our dedication to cultivating a diverse, engaging and inclusive culture.”
Baker Tilly rose three spots to No. 8 from its 2018 ranking, led by strong practice area rankings, leading employee benefits offerings and the quality of life it provides for its employees.
“The Vault Accounting 50 is one of the leading surveys of accounting professionals and our rankings are an important indicator of the reputational strength of our workplace culture,” Baker Tilly CEO Alan Whitman said. “It is tremendous recognition from our employees and peers—a reflection of our reputation for providing outstanding accounting and advisory services and our dedication to cultivating a diverse, engaging and inclusive culture.”
Baker Tilly’s culture is driven by its focus on listening to team members to understand key engagement and motivating factors. Many of the firm’s progressive programs including expanded parental leave, “Dress for Your Day” and the recently launched MOVE@Baker Tilly wellness program emerged from understanding and acting on employee feedback.
“Listening to our team members drives progress at Baker Tilly,” Baker Tilly Chief Human Resources Officer Karleen Mussman said. “The Vault awards indicate our commitment to understanding what matters to our people and investing in initiatives that align with our core values of collaboration, integrity, passion and stewardship and enrich the careers of our team members, truly among the best and brightest in our profession.”
In addition to its overall ranking, Baker Tilly scored high on the survey’s quality of life categories, determined by survey responses from Baker Tilly staff, including employee benefits (No. 7). Baker Tilly also scored high among industry peers in overall prestige (No. 9) and in practice area rankings: audit & assurance (No. 9), forensic accounting (No. 9) and tax accounting (No. 10).
The Vault Accounting 50 rankings are the result of Vault’s annual accounting survey, conducted earlier this year. The survey asks 9,000 accounting industry professionals of all levels to assess their peer firms based on industry prestige and to assess their own firms based on various quality of life categories, including firm culture, compensation, overall satisfaction, training, diversity, hours and work/life balance. Vault uses a weighted formula that combines each firm’s prestige and quality of life rankings to create its overall “best to work for” ranking to determine the Vault Accounting 50. In addition to the continuing recognition from Vault, Baker Tilly has been certified as a great workplace by the Great Place to Work® organization and Fortune Magazine, named a Best Adoption-Friendly Workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption and consistently recognized as a best place to work in its local markets – 60 times within the last five years.
