Top Hat Hires Chief Revenue Officer John Hood to Scale the EdTech Startup’s Next Phase of Rapid Growth

Former Sales leader at Oracle, HP, and Dell brings proven track record for leading high-performing teams and delivering predictable revenue growth

TORONTO--()--Top Hat, provider of the leading cloud-based teaching platform for higher education, today announced that John Hood has joined the company as Chief Revenue Officer. Hood will oversee all revenue-generating functions, including Inside Sales, Enterprise Sales, and Customer Success. He will serve as a member of Top Hat’s executive team and report directly to CEO and co-founder Mike Silagadze.

Hood joins Top Hat from Oracle, where he was the Group Vice President in Sales Development & Demand Generation for Oracle Digital, and led a team of more than 800 sales professionals. Prior to that, he was the Chief Revenue Officer at, where he steered high-impact sales, sales operations, and support teams. Previously, Hood was Vice President and General Manager at HP, where he was responsible for the Americas SMB market and increased U.S. market share by 13 points in three years. He began his career with Dell, where he spent 17 years in a variety of sales, operations, and general management roles in the U.S. and internationally, helping Dell grow from $900 million to more than $60 billion in annual revenues.
