Madrona Venture Group Names Sudip Chakrabarti Partner

SEATTLE--()--Madrona announced today that Sudip Chakrabarti is joining Madrona as a Partner on the Investment team. As Partner, Chakrabarti will actively work with founders and entrepreneurs as they build companies, lead investments, and foster the Pacific NW innovation ecosystem.

Chakrabarti brings experience investing in enterprise and cloud based companies, deep relationships with co-investment partners, technical expertise and first hand experience as a founder of startups to his role with Madrona.

Most recently, Chakrabarti was a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley where he worked as partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners and at Andreessen Horowitz. While at Lightspeed, Chakrabarti led or co-led investments in Streamlio, Serverless, Rainnet, Exabeam and a Madrona portfolio company, Heptio. Chakrabarti started his investment career at Osage University Partners investing in the commercialization of university-developed technologies.

Prior to his investing career, Chakrabarti worked as an engineer and founded two startups, the first when he was at Georgia Tech finishing his Ph.D. and the second while he was pursuing his MBA.

“Being a founder is hard work. I have an empathetic approach to the challenges they face as they build technology, a team and hone in on the very best market and customer set,” added Chakrabarti.

Chakrabarti received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech, an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur.
