Grossman Burn Center Surgeon to Be Inaugurated 47th Governor of Kansas

Dr. Jeffrey W. Colyer, Associate Clinical Director at the Grossman Burn Center at Research Medical Center, Will Continue to Consult on Reconstructive Cases

LOS ANGELES--()--Dr. Jeffrey W. Colyer, M.D., the Associate Clinical Director at the Grossman Burn Center (“GBC”) at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, is scheduled to be sworn in as the 47th Governor of the state of Kansas on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. Dr. Colyer, who currently serves as Lt. Governor, will succeed current Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, who is resigning to assume a presidentially appointed ambassadorship. Dr. Colyer plans to continue on call duties and consulting on reconstructive cases at GBC as long as his executive duties permit.

Dr. Colyer is a 1986 graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1981, and a masters degree from Cambridge in 1982. Dr. Colyer has served as Lt. Governor of Kansas since 2011, and was a member of both the Kansas House and Senate prior to his election. In addition to his private medical practice and his clinical duties at GBC, Dr. Colyer is a renowned humanitarian who has participated in numerous international medical relief missions.

Dr. Grossman stated, “The demands on Dr. Colyer’s time will be extraordinary, so I am truly grateful that he will continue working on cases, even in a limited capacity. We may be losing some of his time, but the state of Kansas is gaining an extraordinary chief executive.”
