Wescom Credit Union Brings Financial Education to Southern Californians via New Stops on its Did You Know? Mobile Banking Bus Tour

LOS ANGELES--()--Wescom Credit Union today announced 12 new Southern California Big Blue Mobile Branch Tour stops as part of its Did You Know? financial education campaign, designed to empower consumers with practical tips and smart money management advice. Each stop—including marquee stops at the Northridge Mall, all UCLA home football games and the Phroogal Road to Financial Wellness event—offers complimentary financial consulting.

“Knowledge is power but financial knowledge is life changing”

The 18-foot-tall Big Blue Mobile Banking unit has already traveled to 15 communities throughout Southern California since its January 2016 launch. The mobile branch is equipped with a cash-dispensing ATM machine and an 88” flat screen display and interactive monitors. Visitors can open accounts, manage cashless banking transactions, and better understand the impact of key financial decisions such as paying for college or purchasing a car.

“Wescom’s Big Blue mobile banking unit is rooted in providing the ultimate convenience for our nearly 200,000 members across Southern California,” said Debbie Shepherd, Director of Member Experiences, Wescom. “But we did not want to stop there. Our Did You Know? initiative converts Big Blue into a traveling financial guidance center to educate and empower people to make the very best financial choices possible.”

The tour features a number of marquee stops, including all UCLA football home games at the Rose Bowl Stadium as part of Wescom’s sponsorship of UCLA Athletics. An additional event on September 15th at the Wescom Headquarters in Pasadena will be co-hosted by financial education startup Phroogal as part of Phroogal’s 50-city Road to Financial Wellness tour.

“Knowledge is power but financial knowledge is life changing,” says Jason Vitug, social impact entrepreneur and Phroogal CEO and founder. “Phroogal and Wescom share a mission to educate and inspire people to create their dream lives through smart money management. We’re excited to partner with Wescom and we look forward to helping further break through taboos and misconceptions about money.”
