Placeable Earns Certifiably Green Denver Certification

Denver Software Company is Sustainability Leader

DENVER--()--Placeable, a provider of local marketing services, received certification from the Denver Department of Environmental Health’s Certifiably Green Denver (CGD) program. The certification required a rigorous audit of Placeable’s business practices impacting waste and pollution.

“By earning green business certification, Placeable demonstrates it’s a sustainability leader in the Denver software industry”

The CGD program helps local businesses find opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability while minimizing environmental liability through pollution prevention. Placeable is the city’s second software company to receive CGD certification.

“The certification process helped us become better environmental and corporate citizens,” said Chris Gombeski, manager, Client Services, Placeable. “Our environment and local community are very important to us. As we went through the process, we found we were already doing some great things to reduce resource consumption and decrease our carbon footprint. This experience definitely opened our eyes, and we made some changes that are making a positive impact with our employees and in our local community.”

Some of the business practices Placeable changed for the certification included installing more energy efficient lighting and removing disposable utensils and kitchenware. The company plans to compare progress when it reapplies for the certification later this year, a requirement of the program.

“By earning green business certification, Placeable demonstrates it’s a sustainability leader in the Denver software industry,” said Emily Backus, sustainability advisor, Certifiably Green Denver. “They started this journey with an Earth Day presentation, and worked persistently for seven months to achieve all the criteria for certification. I’m impressed by the hard work and dedication of Chris and the team at Placeable.”
