Hartford Funds Launches Environmental Opportunities Fund

RADNOR, Pa.--()--Hartford Funds today announced that it has launched the Hartford Environmental Opportunities Fund (A-share: HEOMX), a mutual fund that invests in companies promoting environmental sustainability. Sub-advised by Wellington Management, the Environmental Opportunities Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing in companies that directly address environmental challenges.

“It aligns directly with our human-centric investing philosophy, responding to what today’s investors want and need.”

“The Hartford Environmental Opportunities Fund is designed to invest in companies that we believe provide a positive impact on our environment while also aiming to deliver positive returns and value to our fund shareholders,” said Anita Baldwin, Vice President and Managing Director, Head of Research, Hartford Funds. “It aligns directly with our human-centric investing philosophy, responding to what today’s investors want and need.”

The fund will invest in companies globally that address environmental challenges, such as companies that are focused on low carbon electricity, energy efficiency, low carbon transportation, and/or water and resource management. At a time when climate change initiatives across the world are growing, the Hartford Environmental Opportunities Fund will seek to support low carbon energy solutions and the overall efficiency of resource consumption through its investments.

“We created and launched the Environmental Opportunities Fund as part of our continued commitment to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment [UNPRI] initiative, which supports incorporating environmental, social and corporate governance considerations into investment analysis, policies and practice,” Baldwin added.

Wellington Management’s Alan Hsu, Managing Director, Portfolio Manager and Global Industry Analyst, and Tom Levering, Senior Managing Director, Portfolio Manager and Global Industry Analyst, will serve as the Portfolio Managers of the Hartford Environmental Opportunities Fund.
