OMVS Continues Asset Acquisition Due Diligence as Market Looks Good for Refrigerated Haulers

HENDERSON, Nev.--()--On the Move Systems (OMVS) is considering the purchase of a trucking company and a recent industry report shows the market is particularly strong for refrigerated freight, one of the areas OMVS would target should it enter the industry.

The well-followed DAT North American Freight Index revealed that spot market volumes rebounded 15 percent in December 2015, and that rates jumped substantially in three categories. Refrigerated trailer (also known as “reefers” in the industry) enjoyed second-highest increase in volume (13 percent) and the highest in rates (2.3 percent) over the month compared to November.

“These numbers look quite promising,” said OMVS CEO Robert Wilson. “They provide strong support for our due diligence towards the possible purchase of a small trucking company. The industry enjoyed a record year in 2014, and it continued its strong performance last year. In addition, we’ve found solid research showing trucking companies should enjoy solid volumes and rates well into the foreseeable future. Adding a trucking company to our portfolio would greatly expand our revenue base and our product offerings.”

Wilson cited the highly regarded American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) U.S. Freight Transportation Forecast, which projects freight volumes will jump nearly 29 percent by 2026. Elsewhere, GE Capital predicts in its Trucking Industry Economic Outlook Survey that nearly half of all trucking executives it recently polled reported solid revenue growth and that they expect the industry to grow substantially.

OMVS’s proposed new trucking firm would allow the company to compete alongside Con-way Freight (CNW), SAIA Inc. (SAIA) and Old Dominion Freight Lines (ODFL).
