Young Professionals Host School Choice Social

AUSTIN, Texas--()--The Texas Millennial Institute is organizing a fun night with food and drinks for young professionals to learn about school choice on Friday, January 29. The event is open to the public. All ages are welcome.

“There is no better way to advance these principles than participation in National School Choice Week. By advancing freedom in education, we hope to ensure no child’s future is limited by their ZIP code.”

Millennials from all over the Austin area are invited to attend a “School Choice Social” at the School House Pub in Austin from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on January 29. The event follows a massive rally planned to take place on the steps of the Texas State Capitol earlier that day to celebrate National School Choice Week (January 24-30, 2016), which will be the largest series of education-related events in US history.

The “School Choice Social” promises to be an informational networking opportunity for people of all ages interested in education reform and school choice. Courtney Boswell, executive director of the Texas Institute for Education Reform, will speak on the topic of school choice and ways millennial leaders can become active in working toward further education reform in their communities across the Lone Star State.

“The Texas Millennial Institute is a nonprofit transpartisan organization whose mission is to represent the voice of millennials in the Lone Star State and provide infrastructure that empowers them to seek and promote ideas that lead us toward a freer Texas and, ultimately, a freer world,” said Noelle Mandell, chief executive officer of the Texas Millennial Institute. “There is no better way to advance these principles than participation in National School Choice Week. By advancing freedom in education, we hope to ensure no child’s future is limited by their ZIP code.”

Over 50 young professionals are expected to attend the event, which is cosponsored by the Texas Millennial Institute, Americans for Prosperity, and the Texas Institute for Education Reform.
