ERI, CTA and Samsung Join Forces and Draw Crowds at Free E-Waste Recycling Event at CES Site

LAS VEGAS--()--Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), the nation’s leading recycler of electronic waste, partnered with Samsung and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)TM this past weekend to host a free e-waste collection event at the site of the Consumer Electronics Show. The event, the first-ever e-waste collection event to be held at the site – was a big hit – with crowds of local residents showing up to unload their out of date or unwanted electronic items.

“For our industry – and any electronics-related industry – CES is the Super Bowl. Thanks so much to industry leaders Samsung and CTA for partnering with us. The work we accomplished together this weekend has prevented thousands of pounds of e-waste from making its way into landfills.”

The collection event was designed to help provide residents of the City of Las Vegas and surrounding areas with a convenient way to responsibly recycle consumer electronics.

Locals were able to dispose of their unwanted electronics in an environmentally responsible way – and free of charge – right at the location of the annual consumer electronics Mecca, CES® -- the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The first-of-its kind free electronics recycling event was sponsored by Samsung and hosted by CTA – the owner and producer of CES, the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies.

Locals deposited everything from computer equipment, televisions and mobile devices to printers and laptops. For this special manufacturing take-back program, ERI responsibly and securely recycled every piece of e-waste collected.

“It was truly an honor and privilege to have been asked to be the official electronics recycler at this first-of-its-kind event at CES,” said John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI. “For our industry – and any electronics-related industry – CES is the Super Bowl. Thanks so much to industry leaders Samsung and CTA for partnering with us. The work we accomplished together this weekend has prevented thousands of pounds of e-waste from making its way into landfills.”
