The ONE closes $10 million in Series B funding with global music authority Lang Lang, Sequoia Capital, ZhenFund, Ideabulb Ventures

SAN FRANCISCO--()--The ONE Music Group, creators of The ONE Smart Piano and The ONE Light keyboard, announces a long-term partnership with world-renowned concert pianist Lang Lang. As formal investor and supporter of The ONE Smart Piano, Lang Lang is a strong believer in making music education more accessible and enjoyable for people of all ages and skill levels.

“Music education of the future is what’s needed to help kids find their love for playing piano and allow them to grow their potential in music”

Recently named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Smart Home category, The ONE Smart Piano is the only Apple MFi-certified piano that works with an app to teach users to play. As part of the partnership, The ONE Smart Piano will be one of only two piano brands Lang Lang will use.

“Music education of the future is what’s needed to help kids find their love for playing piano and allow them to grow their potential in music,” said Lang Lang. “The ONE represents the future of music education. Learning piano starts with The ONE.”

Recognized as one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of the Year, Lang Lang is known as a global music authority. Through his nonprofit, 101 Pianists, Lang Lang’s mission is to make piano and music education more enjoyable and accessible for children.

“Lang Lang’s perfection in his piano-playing craft, and dedication to learning in his youth, is the kind of quality we want to exude for our piano,” said Sandy Diao, Head of Growth at The ONE Smart Piano. “His work with 101 Pianists aligns perfectly with our mission to make learning the piano more convenient and fun for everyone.”

In addition to this partnership, The ONE Music Group recently closed $10 million in Series B funding, which was led by Lang Lang, Sequoia Capital, IdeaBulb Ventures and ZhenFund. The company will use the funds to advance its mission of music education with The Piano Classroom Project, a program dedicated to helping teachers cater to more students in each class at a more affordable rate.

To date, the company has sold more than 50,000 pianos worldwide. Users ranging from young children to retired individuals have learned to play music with The ONE.

The ONE Smart Piano will be on display at The NAMM Show, which will run Jan. 21-24, 2016, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. The NAMM Show is the world's largest trade-only event for the music products industry.
