Modern Teacher Announces Strategic Partnership with Washtenaw Intermediate School District, Michigan to bring Digital Convergence to PreK-12 Education

DENVER--()--Today, Modern Teacher announced its newest partner, Washtenaw Intermediate School District in Michigan to provide a researched-based methodology for PreK-12 digital convergence in education. The proprietary methodology addresses a technology adoption crisis in America’s classrooms by focusing on the entire school system and its interrelated parts.

“We are excited to partner with Washtenaw ISD for a number of reasons”

“We are excited to partner with Washtenaw ISD for a number of reasons,” said Dr. Shawn K. Smith, president of Modern Teacher. “Washtenaw ISD has the leadership in place to become a national model for teaching and learning in the digital world. This partnership will help ensure the successful adoption of technology in the classroom by creating a new vision for instructional design and delivery in today’s highly digitized world.”

Washtenaw ISD Superintendent Scott Menzel is also excited about the partnership. “We believe the school districts in Washtenaw County are on the cutting-edge of instruction and this is a natural next step in our work together.”

Naomi Norman, WISD Interim Assistant Superintendent for Achievement also commented, “We have a moral obligation to ensure our graduates are ready to compete globally. To do so will require rethinking teaching and learning. This partnership is one of our strategies to do so.”

Modern Teacher uses a systemic approach when working with schools as they adopt new technology. While many districts have purchased the latest devices and software, Washtenaw ISD and Modern Teacher know that few have mastered the ability to integrate these tools to transform teaching, learning, and student outcomes.

"We believe America’s schools need support in transitioning traditional classrooms into modern learning environments,” Smith said. “Washtenaw is an intermediate school district that is well positioned to support the critical work of PreK-12 digital convergence. They just get it.”

WISD operates cooperative programs and deliver services that focus on teaching and learning for students in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Dexter, Lincoln, Manchester, Milan, Saline, Whitmore Lake, and Ypsilanti. WISD works with schools, parents, agencies and the community to improve achievement for all students by securing and sharing educational resources equitably.

Modern Teacher is an educational technology company supporting PreK-12 education with digital convergence. With a mission to maximize teaching and learning in the digital world, Modern Teacher’s vision is to empower a half a million teachers and 10,000 schools with digital transformation by 2020.
