Amerigroup Community Care of Georgia Receives Notification of Intent to Award State Contract to Continue Serving State’s Medicaid Population

Amerigroup to Continue Serving State’s Foster Care Population through the Georgia Families 360° Program

ATLANTA--()--Amerigroup Community Care, which has been serving Georgia for a decade, received notification of intent to award a new contract by the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) to continue serving members who participate in the state’s Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids® managed care program. DCH also notified Amerigroup of its intent to award the Georgia Families 360° contract to provide health care coverage for Georgia’s Foster Care, Adoption Assistance and select youth in the non-secure Department of Juvenile Justice populations, which Amerigroup has managed since 2014.

“We are humbled and grateful to extend our partnership with the state of Georgia to provide services to those who need a little assistance”

Amerigroup was one of four Managed Care Organizations (MCO’s) overall, selected to serve Georgians and the lone entity designated to coordinate care for the state’s foster care population. The contract becomes effective July 1, 2016.

“We are humbled and grateful to extend our partnership with the state of Georgia to provide services to those who need a little assistance,” said Fran Gary, plan president, Amerigroup. “We have been an active part of the Georgia landscape for more than 10 years, and we have never been more motivated to deliver exceptional service to our partners, providers and the members we serve every day. This is a really exciting day for everyone at Amerigroup.”

Amerigroup has been a leader in the healthcare delivery and technology arena highlighted by its work with Georgia Partnership for TeleHealth (GPT), providing Telemedicine services to members in a timely fashion, regardless of their geographic barriers to access. Additionally, Amerigroup has worked with nearly 300 medical providers in Georgia to transform their delivery system into a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), which improves the quality of care and better control costs.

In March 2014, Amerigroup was appointed by the state of Georgia as the single Managed Care Organization (MCO) responsible for coordinating the care of children in foster care, children receiving adoption assistance and select youth in the juvenile justice system. The Georgia Families 360° program provides an innovative approach to serving this vulnerable population and delivers holistic care coordination to youth with complex needs.

The new contract will become effective on July 1, 2016, and enables Amerigroup to continue coordinating medical, behavioral, dental and vision health benefits for members who participate in the Georgia Families Program which consist of Georgia’s various Medicaid programs, including Planning for Health Babies (P4HB), PeachCare for Kids® and the Georgia Families 360° program.
