527 Madison Avenue Announces Molly White Exhibition

NEW YORK--()--Mitsui Fudosan America, Inc. (MFA) www.mfamerica.com, the U.S. affiliate of Japan’s largest real estate company, is pleased to announce that paintings by Molly White will be on exhibition in the Lobby Gallery of 527 Madison Avenue from September 10 – November 20, 2015. Seven oil paintings will be on view, including a new work over 10 feet wide, created specifically for 527 Madison Avenue. Located at 54th Street and Madison Avenue, the show is open to the public from 9 AM – 5 PM, Monday through Friday. This is the fifth in a series of rotating exhibitions at 527 Madison showcasing noteworthy emerging artists.

Molly White’s visually dense works exist on the intersection of figuration and abstraction. Using sinuous lines within a fictive space, her compositions consist of innumerable twisting biomorphic forms, intertwined to create a sense of dynamic movement. Shapes, while familiar, resist precise identification, hovering between being descriptive and vague. Striking bright colors add to the feeling of heightened drama, with acid greens and neon oranges verging on a sense of the psychedelic. The artist sees her work as an attempt to evoke a sense of place—such as a garden-- without being specific and she strives to make the viewer feel as if elements within her paintings are spilling out into the real world.

Molly White holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and is a graduate of the Bronx Museum’s Artist in the Marketplace Program. Her work was included in the 2014 “Life is Beautiful” festival in Las Vegas, and she has taken part in group shows at the Bronx Museum, Artist’s Space, and Cristinerose Gallery in New York. White has worked as a studio technician in the Reproductions department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and currently teaches an experimental painting class for selected high school students at NYU.
