Echostreams Collaborates with Mellanox and HGST to Deliver True End-to-End 12Gb/s SAS High-Availability Solutions at Supercomputing 2014, Booth #959, in New Orleans

Company showcases a 2U high-availability 12Gb/s SAS redundant server with the latest HGST Ultrastar® SSD1600MR 12Gb/s SAS SSDs and FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand as a high-performance tier-zero storage appliance building block for OEMs.

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--()--Echostreams Innovative Solutions, LLC. today announced the availability of the long-awaited Griffin2-24 high-performance high-availability flash server for early customer sampling. Based on the latest Intel® Grantley platform supporting dual E5-2600v3 Haswell processors, Mellanox® Technologies ConnectX®-3 FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand adapter cards and 12Gb/s SAS connectivity, this all-flash redundant server is the most powerful Cluster-in-a-Box solution on the market today.

“We are pleased to see Echostreams among the companies that have recognized this need and to enable higher number of transactions per second by integrating our InfiniBand adapter solutions in their Griffin2-24 storage appliance.”

“Improving data center efficiency requires state-of-the-art interconnect technologies that will minimize the access time to storage,” said Motti Beck, director Enterprise Market Development at Mellanox Technologies. “We are pleased to see Echostreams among the companies that have recognized this need and to enable higher number of transactions per second by integrating our InfiniBand adapter solutions in their Griffin2-24 storage appliance.”

“HGST leads the industry in SAS SSDs, which continue to be the preferred storage building blocks for a large variety of server and storage systems that support a growing set of data-intensive enterprise applications,” said Ulrich Hansen, vice president of SSD product marketing, HGST. “As cloud and enterprise customers implement solutions to meet a variety of storage needs, SAS SSDs and HDDs will increasingly be deployed in tiered pools of storage based on respective TCO strengths. Integrated with our enterprise-class SAS SSDs, we believe Echostreams’ Griffin2-24 delivers a true, end-to-end solution that is highly available and easy to deploy.”

“High performance computing requires affordable, robust, fault-resilient storage that captures data as fast as it’s being generated, and this does not have to be done with expensive and hard-to-manage Storage Area Networks,” said Gene Lee, president/CEO of Echostreams Innovative Solutions. “Our Girffin2-24 12Gb/s SAS high-performance redundant flash server is equipped with dual E5-2600v3 Intel Haswell processors, Mellanox FDR InfiniBand fabric adapters, bundled with HGST’s latest Ultrastar SSD1600MR eMLC grade 12Gb/s SAS SSDs and finally powered by with Microsoft Server 2012 R2’s Storage Spaces SMB 3.0 over InfiniBand. This redundant tier-zero IB storage platform offers the unbeatable value for solution providers and OEMs servicing the HPC community. For tier-1 storage the eDrawer4060J 12G dual-expander JBOD with 60 HGST 3.5-inch 7,200RPM high-capacity SAS HDDs can be attached to the Griffin2-24 offering more than half-a-petabyte of tiered storage.”
