AvaSure Taps Top Nursing Leaders for Advisory Board

Provider of leading solution for preventing patient falls adds to base of clinical expertise

BELMONT, Mich.--()--AvaSure, whose unique observation and communications platform prevents falls and other patient harm while reducing labor costs for sitters, has added three of the nation’s leading nurse executives to its advisory board. The move will enhance the company’s growing clinical expertise as it helps healthcare providers make the highest use of the AvaSys® TeleSitterTM Solution.

The new advisors are:

  • Mary Beth Kingston, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Aurora Health Care, an integrated health system in eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Among a number of other senior-level posts, she previously served as Vice President for Health Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia. Kingston has been active in a number of professional organizations, including the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), and she received the Pennsylvania Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing Administration.
  • Gay Landstrom, MS, RN, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services for Trinity Health, a nationwide network of 44 hospitals and numerous outpatient facilities. Previously, Landstrom was chief nurse at two Trinity organizations – Mercy Health Muskegon (Mich.) and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (Mich.) – where she redesigned patient care delivery and care management models; implemented processes for evidence-based nursing practice; developed mentoring programs; and helped lead the expansion of heart and vascular services, cancer care and joint care.
  • Jane McCurley, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, Chief Nursing Officer, HCA St. David’s North Austin (Texas) Medical Center. McCurley has more than 30 years’ experience in nursing, including 10 as a CNO. She served in roles as director of emergency services, critical care and radiology prior to becoming an associate vice president of nursing at Baylor Medical Center of Grapevine (Texas). She held CNO positions at Las Colinas Medical Center and North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas. McCurley serves on the AONE political action committee and the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives Board.

Kingston, Landstrom and McCurley join AvaSure’s existing advisors, who include:

  • Dr. Andrea Amalfitano, DO, PhD, Chief Clinical Officer, AvaSure; Professor, Michigan State University Department of Pediatrics, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics
  • David W. Benfer, former president and CEO of Saint Raphael Healthcare System in Connecticut and past chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives
  • Charles S. Lauer, former Publisher of Modern Healthcare magazine; Honorary Fellow, American College of Hospital Executives
  • Samuel L. Odle, former CEO of the University of Indiana Hospitals; former Chairman of the American College of Hospital Executives; senior strategic policy advisor to AvaSure
