KAHNAWAKE, Quebec--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The preliminary round of the Miss Universe beauty pageant takes place tomorrow in Moscow and Sports Interaction has made Miss Philippines the favorite to be crowned Miss Universe in the final on Saturday night.
“I see Miss France wants to provide a secure home for orphans around the world. If she wants to provide a secure home for an aging bookmarker, she should give me a call.”
Ariella Arida, a chemistry graduate from Laguna, could be the third Filipina to win the coveted title if she wins, joining her countrywomen of 1973 and 1969. But she faces tough competition from the USA and Spain.
“We’ve seen a lot of money coming in on Erin Brady, Miss USA, and that’s to be expected,” says Frank Doyle, a spokesman for Sports Interaction. “Miss USA will always be a public bet. But there hasn’t been a European winner since Miss Norway in 1990 and maybe one is due.”
The girl most likely is Patricia Yurena Rodriguez, Miss Spain, who is joint second favorite with the USA’s Erin Brady. Miss France and Miss Poland also are among the European contenders. “We’re laying 6/4 against a European, odds-on for someone from the Americas and then it’s 5/2 the field,” says Doyle. “I see Miss France wants to provide a secure home for orphans around the world. If she wants to provide a secure home for an aging bookmarker, she should give me a call.”
