STERLING, Va.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--IceWEB, Inc. (OTCBB:IWEB) announced today that its subsidiary Computers & Tele-Comm, Inc. (CTC) has signed an important new education customer, the W.E.B. DuBois Learning Center. CTC will supply advanced broadband services to their main campus. The DuBois Learning Center’s mission is to raise the performance level of underserved communities in the Kansas City, MO area through educational services and applied state-of-the-art-technology. The school has just celebrated its 40th anniversary and is expanding into a new facility that lies outside the area’s in-ground fiber infrastructure.
“Our reading, math and science curriculum relies on cloud based training software, so access to reliable, fast and uncapped Internet service is vital to our mission. CTC was able to provide that when no one else could.”
“Using our advanced communications capabilities, coupled with DuBois’s radio tower, we are wirelessly providing DuBois the high-speed connectivity they need for their advanced level of instruction for their students. This is an exciting win in three ways: we get a new long-term recurring revenue customer, we increase our geographic area of coverage giving us access to a new commercial market area, and we assist an extremely important community resource in accomplishing their mission,” stated IceWEB’s CEO, Rob Howe.
According to Mr. Harrison May, Director of Computer Science at DuBois, “Our reading, math and science curriculum relies on cloud based training software, so access to reliable, fast and uncapped Internet service is vital to our mission. CTC was able to provide that when no one else could.”
May continued, “As a not-for-profit, the high cost of trenching fiber for thousands of feet was not in our budget, but due to our Cisco Network Academy™ I became acquainted with CTC and thought they may have the answer. I reached out to Sam Rellier, their Field Manager, and he noticed the tower and explained how it could be used to connect us. We will now have state of the art fiber-like service, with direct peering to the KC NAP, which is also owned by IceWEB. As an adjunct to our teaching Cisco routing and administration, having the additional ability to be one hop away from hundreds of area networks and more than 27 Carriers is a true value to our students and our program.”
“Adding the DuBois tower to our network coverage, is a great benefit to us because it enables us to position our wireless transmissions to an entirely new geographic area. We can now reach a large group of additional commercial enterprises who need the same level of service as DuBois. Additionally, by working with schools like DuBois we are helping to insure the availability of technical talent needed by companies like ourselves and our clients while also helping many underserved students in the process. It’s a true win-win scenario,” said CTC Chief Technologist, Graeme Gibson.
