SAN DIEGO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), a world leader in the movement to help athletes with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports, thanks to a partnership with J&L Pineapple Co., will host the 2nd Annual J&L Pineapple Open Water Swim Clinic on Sunday, November 3 in Waikiki, HI. This free clinic will feature instruction from elite swim coach, Alan Voisard and former member of the USA National team and Olympic Trials competitor, Alison Terry. Open to physically challenged athletes of any age or physical disability with basic swimming ability, the goal is to not only improve speed and technique, but also for participants to gain confidence and network with their peers.
“My goal for this clinic is to create a learning environment that is safe and exciting. We want more challenged athletes to enjoy swimming and help them to swim faster and more efficiently.”
Participants will improve their swimming by learning proper swim stroke cadence and correct swimming techniques. They will also receive instruction on breathing and core strength, as well as be given individual swimming evaluations.
Voisard is looking forward to instilling confidence and comfort in the open water. Voisard explains, “My goal for this clinic is to create a learning environment that is safe and exciting. We want more challenged athletes to enjoy swimming and help them to swim faster and more efficiently.”
Prior to the clinic, CAF and local supporters, including Hawaii State Governor Neil Abercrombie, will gather for a private meet-and-greet reception with local CAF supported challenged athletes.
Join the Challenged Athletes Foundation, J&L Pineapple Co., and many local challenged athletes and supporters on Sunday, November 3 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm at Kaimana Beach: 2815 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu, HI 96815. About the Challenged Athletes Foundation
The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, close to $50 million has been raised and almost 8,200 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
