AUSTIN, Texas--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Patrons coming out to support the 10th Year of the Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival and Short Film Competition will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite documentary using the Hart Voting System. The event, hosted by the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD) shines a spotlight on films that positively and accurately represent disability. The event will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse Village on Friday, November 1, 2013 through Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM on both nights.
“Hart continues to be proud of our relationship with the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities and our commitment to providing voting systems that are proven to ensure the sanctity of each vote.”
In its 10th year the festival serves as a unique and entertaining way of dispelling common misperceptions about disability. This year the festival will feature two documentaries, as well as a series of short films from around the world with special guests offering Q&A after each session. Audience members will be able to cast their paper or electronic ballots using the Hart Voting System, choosing their favorite film according to quality, how honest and accurately disability is portrayed in each entry and considering how the entry makes you think about disability in an unexpected way.
“The film festival and competition this year revolves around the positive portrayal and independence of people with disabilities in cinema. No competition is complete without a winner,” said Chase Bearden, Director of Advocacy & Community Organizing at the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities. “We are embracing independence through technology, which will be supplied by Hart. The Hart Voting System will allow each of our audience members to cast their vote independently by using accessibility features built into all of their electronic voting machines.”
“We are very excited to be part of the festival and to have the Hart Voting System at this year’s Cinema Touching Disability Film Festival,” said Derek Hutson, Hart InterCivic President. “Hart continues to be proud of our relationship with the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities and our commitment to providing voting systems that are proven to ensure the sanctity of each vote.”
