“Our mission is to improve the overall health of the community”
The Be Covered New Mexico Care Fair will have informational booths on the new health care law, the New Mexico Exchange, and Medicaid’s Blue Cross Community Centennial. BCBSNM will also host “Medicare 101” sessions for seniors interested in learning more about Medicare. The Care Fair is part of Be Covered New Mexico, a grassroots public outreach and education effort focused on helping people understand how the new health insurance law impacts them.
“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico is proud to sponsor this community health fair,” said Janice Torrez, divisional vice president, external affairs & chief of staff for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico. “This is a great opportunity for families to access community resources and information that can help them understand their health insurance options, including Centennial Care, Medicare, and the New Mexico Exchange. SRMC and BCBSNM want to make it as easy as possible for families to take charge of their health.”
The UNM SRMC Community Health Fair will provide a variety of free community services, including health screenings and vaccinations. Families can enjoy fun activities with nutritional education, arts and crafts, basketball games and jumping rope contests.
“Our mission is to improve the overall health of the community,” said Jamie Silva-Steele, interim chief operating officer for UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center. “This Health Fair is one way that we feel we can deliver on our mission while giving back to our community, who continues to provide us enormous support.”
