FORT WORTH, Texas--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--On Sunday, November 3 at 6:00 pm, two great choral traditions will combine to present “Here is Hope,” a rich tapestry of music and remembering woven by FUMC Fort Worth Choral Union, St. Luke’s UMC Houston Chancel Choir, and a full symphony orchestra.
“This will be a wonderful evening to remember all who have come and gone in your life”
Drawing on music from Brahms to John Williams, interspersed with readings from classical and contemporary texts, this is an evening for celebrating our most precious memories, surrounded in beautiful music woven with powerful readings.
“This will be a wonderful evening to remember all who have come and gone in your life,” says Taylor Davis, FUMC Fort Worth Director of Music and Worship Arts. Davis says that whether you lost a loved one this year or 15 years ago, this will be a grand evening set aside just to remember the ones who are never far from our minds. “This rich combination of music and reflective readings will leave you with comfort, hope, and a sense of promise you won’t want to miss,” he adds.
The Music and Worship Arts program of FUMC Fort Worth, directed by Taylor Davis, is a place of growth and opportunity to offer and celebrate musical talents and community for a variety of groups that creates a place of respite and renewal each time it gathers. “Among the most significant ministries of our church that inspire and deepen our faith are Music and Worship Arts,” says Dr. Tim Bruster, Senior Minister. “Music, drama, and visual arts involve our senses in ways that enliven and strengthen our faith.”
The Chancel Choir from St. Luke’s UMC from Houston, directed by Sid Davis, Taylor’s father, joins forces with FUMC Fort Worth’s Choral Union to present this wonderful service of remembrance on All Saints Day. “It's not often that a father and son wind up in the same line of work and are able to create, celebrate, and worship together,” Taylor Davis says. “It's a joy to have St. Luke's join us — and an honor to work with my dad.”
The “Here is Hope” concert will be held in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth, located just west of Downtown Fort Worth at 800 West Fifth Street. A nursery will be available with advance reservation (email@example.com). For more information, please visit www.myfumc.org.
