JACKSON, Miss.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Bomgar, the leader in enterprise remote support solutions, today announced new integration capabilities with Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). The new integration allows IT support technicians to initiate an RDP session through the Bomgar Representative Console without compromising company network security.
“By using Bomgar to access their RDP-enabled systems, customers can improve the security of their company's network. RDP integration with Bomgar also gives customers in-depth troubleshooting, collaboration, and session auditing tools.”
Natively, RDP has limited centralized management, auditing, reporting and collaboration capabilities. Additionally, it is designed for remote access to a computer on a local area network (LAN). Using RDP over the internet usually requires a virtual private network (VPN) tunnel and firewall configurations that compromise security, such as opening the default listening port.
Bomgar eliminates these issues by routing RDP through its appliance-based system, layering the security benefits of Bomgar over each Remote Desktop connection and giving users more options for collaborating with other support representatives. Bomgar’s remote support solution works over the internet and through firewalls with no-preinstalled client on the remote computer. Integrating RDP brings this streamlined connection process to RDP, making connecting to Windows systems on remote networks both easier and more secure. Bomgar also offers integrations with identity management tools, such as LDAP, Active Directory, RADIUS and Kerberos, allowing administrators to centrally control users' access privileges and require secure authentication before enabling remote access. If a support representative leaves the company, their RDP privileges are automatically removed from Bomgar, protecting systems from unauthorized remote access.
The new integration also adds Bomgar’s advanced collaboration features, allowing support technicians to share or transfer RDP sessions without disconnecting from the original Remote Desktop session. Users can even share a Windows RDP session with a support technician using a Mac or Linux computer.
"Bomgar's RDP integration gives IT and support departments another option for providing efficient and secure remote support," said Troy Harrison, VP of product management, Bomgar. "By using Bomgar to access their RDP-enabled systems, customers can improve the security of their company's network. RDP integration with Bomgar also gives customers in-depth troubleshooting, collaboration, and session auditing tools."
