STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Goo Technologies, the leader in HTML5 high-end graphics for games and interactive visualizations on the web and the company behind the Goo Engine®, today announced that it has collaborated with Mozilla to create a groundbreaking interactive graphics and music application showcasing the capabilities of the latest version of Firefox, which is released today.
“Goo Technologies has built this immersive, open source demo to showcase some of the capabilities of Web Audio. Goo’s innovative tools will allow people to create Web games that are performant and multi-platform while keeping development simple, fun, and cost-effective.”
The demo, “Songs of Diridum,” features in-game controls for audio – recorded by a professional jazz band based in Stockholm – as well as a 3D environment rendered by Goo’s proprietary HTML5 graphics platform. Goo’s latest technical demo illustrates the benefits of the Web Audio API implemented in the latest version of Firefox.
“We collaborated with Mozilla to highlight the significant improvements in audio experience possible with their latest browser release,” said Martin Berg, head of product development at Goo Technologies. “All the music was recorded specifically for this demo by a dedicated jazz band and music producer here in Stockholm. We really wanted to get high fidelity audio into this production to show the difference of Web Audio in action. The end result shows the potential of building interactive applications on the Goo Platform, not just for visual graphics but for audio as well.”
“The Web Audio API now joins Mozilla-pioneered technologies such as asm.js and WebGL in Firefox, demonstrating the Web is now a robust platform for creating and distributing stunning games, previously impossible without plugins," said Martin Best, Mozilla Game Platform Strategist. “Goo Technologies has built this immersive, open source demo to showcase some of the capabilities of Web Audio. Goo’s innovative tools will allow people to create Web games that are performant and multi-platform while keeping development simple, fun, and cost-effective.”
“This demo beautifully illustrates where the Web world is heading,” said Marcus Krüger, founder and executive chairman of Goo. “HTML5 is really coming together, and with both console quality graphics and sound in the browser, it opens up a new range of games and apps being delivered on the Web without any boundaries. It is truly exciting and a great example of the power of Goo Create, Goo’s new platform launching in November, that makes the production of these kinds of Web experiences tremendously easier.”
A video capture of the demo, along with further technical details on the demo from the Mozilla Hacks blog post, is available on the Songs of Diridum webpage: http://www.gooengine.com/mozilla-web-audio-demo-built-in-goo-engine/
The demo is open-source and is available for download as well.
