FORT WAYNE, Ind.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--EXTENSION, Inc. today announced the upcoming launch of its Healthcare Informatics Career Development Program designed to attract and retain local talent for its Professional Services team. EXTENSION® is positioned to grow at an annual rate of over 100% partially driven by the Joint Commission’s National Patient Goal on Alarm Safety to reduce alarm fatigue which takes effect in 2014.
“Our goal is to attract and retain these highly qualified individuals.”
EXTENSION’s Healthcare Informatics Career Development Program is a long-term hiring and training program for recent college graduates and other experienced professionals interested in learning clinical workflow and Health Information Technology, as well as those who desire a role saving lives in a hospital-setting in lieu of a clinical background. A fast-track program, candidates will receive a competitive salary from Day 1 as they train for and ease into their role as “Implementation Engineers,” working in the field independently within 6 months and enjoying high earnings potential thereafter.
EXTENSION currently seeks 4-10 recent graduates or experienced professionals for full-time positions to fill each of its January and May classes for 2014 (up to 20 total). The program requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a Midwestern University. During the training period, all candidates must attend training at EXTENSION’s headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and be comfortable with substantial travel and flying. Upon graduating from the program, Implementation Engineers may choose to relocate to another market giving them many options to start their career. The ideal applicants possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication and customer service skills, and a desire to continuously learn as the Healthcare Information Technology industry evolves.
“Fort Wayne and the surrounding area are full of talented college graduates and experienced professionals seeking rewarding careers with respectable entry-level salaries and benefits, as well as the opportunity for significant advancement and personal growth,” said Josh Mahler, Chief Operations Officer at EXTENSION. “Our goal is to attract and retain these highly qualified individuals.”
EXTENSION is leading the industry into the next generation of clinical alarm systems with Engage™ – its alarm safety and event response platform. EXTENSION Engage aggregates alarms, events, and notifications generated by medical devices and clinical systems, assembles the data into a comprehensive patient profile, and delivers actionable information in the form of a context-rich alert to all relevant care team members on their Wi-Fi handset or smartphone. Upon acceptance of an Engage smart alert, EXTENSION facilitates rapid communication via robust response options including secure, chat-style instant messaging and single-click voice calls.
“EXTENSION Engage unifies all of the alarming noise in a hospital and reduces the instance of false and otherwise irrelevant alarms and alarm fatigue – a problem so pervasive in hospitals that The Joint Commission has specifically targeted the issue for improvement,” said Todd Plesko, CEO at EXTENSION. “Our software is evolving from a nice-to-have to a must-have in hospitals and that mandate is a primary driver of our ever-increasing demand for new talent.”
Plesko continued by making an appeal to the educational community, “It would seem that our need for qualified talent exceeds the current supply. We are asking universities to help us meet this demand as well as assure their brightest students excellent positions upon graduation.”
