DALLAS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Dallas Regional Chamber today released a video featuring several prominent civic and business leaders from across North Texas showing their support for Proposition 6. The Texas State Water Plan needs critical funding from Prop 6, which creates two new funds: the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) and the State Water Implementation Revenue Fund for Texas (SWIRFT), in order to quench the thirst of millions of Texans – including the extra 1,000 people that move to the state each day – for the next fifty years.
“It is imperative that Prop. 6 pass if businesses are to continue to locate and expand here, benefitting our area with job creation and economic activity.”
State Representative Helen Giddings, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, Hillwood Chairman H. R. Perot, Jr., Estrada Hinojosa & Company, Inc. Chairman Bob Estrada and Halff Associates President Martin Malloy all spoke in support of Prop 6 in the video. The measure is on the ballot for the November election.
“When it comes to economic stability and growth, water is critical - and Texas needs more of it. Our state lacks an adequate supply of water to meet growing demands, and the coming shortfall threatens our quality of life and ability to create jobs and grow the economy. This is our opportunity to ensure Texas has a reliable, long-term supply of water,” said Ambassador (ret.) James C. Oberwetter, president and CEO of the Dallas Regional Chamber. “It is imperative that Prop. 6 pass if businesses are to continue to locate and expand here, benefitting our area with job creation and economic activity.”
