PALO ALTO, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The Open Networking Foundation (ONF), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), today announced selection of the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) as the third international testing facility for the OpenFlow™ Conformance Testing Program. UNH-IOL, one of the industry’s premier independent testing centers for new technologies, joins the Beijing Internet Institute (BII), and the Indiana Center for Network Translational Research and Education (InCNTRE), in certifying that products meet ONF OpenFlow Conformance Test Specification requirements.
“UNH-IOL is committed to improving networks worldwide”
“UNH-IOL is committed to improving networks worldwide,” said Erica Johnson, director of UNH-IOL and an Open Networking Foundation research associate. “As a full-scale, non-profit test lab, we combine industry expertise with training for the next generation of engineers. Central to our mission is the goal of fostering multi-vendor interoperability and conformance to standards –principles that we share with ONF’s approach to open SDN.”
UNH-IOL tests networking and data communications products for interoperability and conformance to technical standards, while maintaining a strong reputation for independent, vendor-neutral testing with a focus on quality assurance. The lab will now also offer organizations the opportunity to receive OpenFlow certification of their products.
“UNH-IOL is highly regarded as an independent proving ground for breakthrough technologies,” said Dan Pitt, executive director of the Open Networking Foundation. “The addition of this third testing center to our OpenFlow Conformance Testing Program further supports our efforts to ensure that trusted OpenFlow-based SDN solutions are readily available in the marketplace.”
The ONF OpenFlow Conformance Testing Program was launched in July 2013. The Program provides networking vendors with the opportunity to demonstrate compliance with the OpenFlow specification, the first SDN standard and a vital element of an open SDN architecture.
