TORONTO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Cascade® and Dawn® dish washing products helped with the Thanksgiving dinner cleanup over the weekend by digitally cleaning the plates of Instagram users across the country. It also filled the plates of many Canadians by donating $27,165 to Food Banks Canada.
“Sharing pictures of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner is popular with Instagram users”
On Sunday, Cascade® and Dawn® invited Canadians to share Instagram pictures of their Thanksgiving dinner plates using #GiveAPlate and @GiveAPlate. For every picture shared on Sunday with the hashtag or mentioning the handle, Cascade® and Dawn® donated $5 to Food Banks Canada. This expanded on their initial donation of $25,000.
"Sharing pictures of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner is popular with Instagram users," said Corinne Durieu, Communications Manager of Procter & Gamble Canada. "This year, sharing those pictures with #GiveAPlate meant that they also got to share a meal with Canadians that rely on food banks every day."
Cascade® and Dawn® collected over 400 #GiveAPlate photos and digitally washed more than 100 plates, sending the cleaned images back to Instagram users across the country.
"Holidays, such as Thanksgiving, are particularly difficult for those struggling with hunger and trying to put enough food on the table for themselves and their families," said Katharine Schmidt, Executive Director of Food Banks Canada. "Cascade and Dawn's generosity means that many Canadians won't have to face an empty plate this season."
Close to 900,000 Canadians are assisted by food banks every month, and a staggering 38 per cent of those helped are children and youth.
