NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--With Breast Cancer Awareness Month underway, Look Good Feel Better (LGFB), the nationwide program that helps women with cancer to understand and cope with the appearance side effects of their treatment, announced today a new partnership with Emmy® nominated makeup artist Lana Horochowski. The acclaimed Hollywood make-up artist’s breakthrough work on the AMC TV hit show Mad Men has earned her true trendsetter status. She will use that renown in her role as national program ambassador to help teach women with cancer to transform their own appearances, and bring national attention to this important program.
“The beauty and power of the women I have met through the Look Good Feel Better program is astounding and humbling”
For the past 24 years, Look Good Feel Better has helped women with cancer to manage the appearance-related side effects of their treatment. Each year – with the help of 6,000 beauty expert volunteers – the program offers nearly 16,000 free workshops across the country, serving 50,000 women. Since its inception in 1989, LGFB has served more than 850,000 women in the U.S. and more than 1.2 million women worldwide.
In her role, Lana will work to help increase awareness and create interest in the LGFB program by participating in LGFB workshops, promoting the new Look Good Feel Better Beauty mobile application and virtual makeover tool, and providing cancer patients with her expert beauty tips and tricks to be shared through media and social outreach.
“The beauty and power of the women I have met through the Look Good Feel Better program is astounding and humbling,” said Horochowski. “It is amazing to witness a Look Good Feel Better workshop and see first-hand the good this program does and the impact it has on women with cancer. I want to spread the word about this program so that more women can be helped and more of my colleagues will be inspired to lend their time and talents to Look Good Feel Better.”
“Lana has a heart for women with cancer. From the first time she encountered Look Good Feel Better and the work we do, she eagerly asked how she could help. That commitment and her remarkable talent supports both sides of our mission to help ensure that more patients in more places know about and can experience the program, and to recruit more beauty professionals like Lana to serve as volunteers,” said Louanne Roark, executive director of the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the Look Good Feel Better Program.
