PITTSBURGH--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--This fall, Heinz® Ketchup bottles in restaurants offer a meaningful way for Americans to share their appreciation for those who have served our country through the “Our Turn to Serve” campaign. Now in its third year, the campaign recognizes veterans and active-duty service members in partnership with Wounded Warrior Project®, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors.
“The campaign makes it easy for Americans to offer words, videos and images of appreciation for those who have served and are serving our country while also raising money for injured veterans.”
Over the last two years, Heinz has seen an overwhelmingly positive response to the program’s goals and partnership with Wounded Warrior Project, giving rise to another year of gratitude. This year, Heinz is asking participants to show their appreciation not only in Thank You Cards, but also through social media by creating Instagram photos and videos and tagging them with #OurTurntoServe. Heinz also introduces the new “Gallery of Gratitude,” an interactive, digital wall showcasing messages of appreciation.
“As America’s Favorite Ketchup®, it’s important for us to give back to those who have served and protected our country,” says Hannah Dupes, brand manager for Heinz Ketchup. “We’ve been humbled by the ‘Our Turn to Serve’ notes of appreciation that have come from ketchup lovers as part of the program in the past, and we’re excited to share these messages in an even more visual way this year.”
It’s easy to participate in the Heinz Ketchup “Our Turn to Serve” program and show your appreciation:
- Scan – Look for the “Our Turn to Serve” Heinz Ketchup bottle in participating restaurants from October through December 2013, or as long as supplies last. Use a smartphone to scan the QR (quick response) code on the back of the Heinz Ketchup bottle, which will bring you to a website.
- Personalize – Write your Thank You Card and choose to send your message to a veteran or active-duty service member selected by the American Red Cross or to one you know personally by entering his or her email address. For each Thank You Card sent, Heinz will donate $1 to Wounded Warrior Project, up to $250,000.
- Share – Share your message with your friends on Facebook or followers on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #OurTurntoServe through the campaign, and Heinz will donate an additional 57 cents to Wounded Warrior Project, up to $250,000.
- View – Check out the “Gallery of Gratitude” at www.heinzketchup.com/ourturntoserve/gallery-of-gratitude.aspx to view other cards, videos and images of thanks.
“We’re looking forward to another great year with Heinz and the ‘Our Turn to Serve’ campaign,” said Adam Silva of Wounded Warrior Project. “The campaign makes it easy for Americans to offer words, videos and images of appreciation for those who have served and are serving our country while also raising money for injured veterans.”
Heinz has a history of supporting veterans and soldiers. During World War II, the company re-fitted part of its Pittsburgh factory to produce glider planes and parts and provided almost half of Heinz’s total food production to the Allied armed forces.
