NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--The second annual conference of the Zicklin-Capco Institute Paper Series in Applied Finance takes place on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York City. Hosted by the Capco Institute and the Zicklin School of Business, the conference explores how the latest industrialization strategies can help transform financial institutions into ‘factories of innovation’ from front office to back.
“We've always strived to bridge the worlds of academia and finance through the publication of cutting edge articles, and our partnership with the Zicklin School of Business, and other leading industry organizations, enables us to deliver the high quality thought leadership our readers have come to expect.”
No longer synonymous with outsourcing and cost-cutting, industrialization offers a clear roadmap to innovation and the delivery of personalized products and services that belong in the digital as well as the financial marketplace. Conference attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of how cutting-edge approaches to regulation, risk and reporting are transforming the fortunes of forward-looking institutions.
“We’re seeing a resurgence of interest in industrialization across the financial and digital marketplaces,” said Dr. Terrence Martell, Saxe Distinguished Professor of Finance, Zicklin School of Business, and Director, Zicklin-Capco Institute Paper Series in Applied Finance. “The Zicklin School of Business and Capco saw the need to offer true insight into the current state of the financial services industry, and offer guidance that helps institutions to challenge the status quo with innovative products and services.”
Ismail Amla, Capco CEO, North America, said: “We’re proud of the close relationship we’ve developed with the Zicklin School of Business over the last two years. In today’s complex market environment, it’s crucial to advance the debate between academics and industry professionals as we seek to solve today’s most pressing industry issues.”
The conference will feature three panels, bringing together speakers from world-leading institutions including members of regulatory bodies, academics, senior executives and consultants:
- “Regulation, Risk, Reporting Convergence, and Stress Testing” – Chaired by Chris Edmonds, President, ICE Clear Credit
- “Electronic Trading: Bigger, Faster, Better?” – Chaired by Larry Tabb, Founder and CEO, TABB Group
- “Industrialization: A New Route to Innovation” – Chaired by Thomas R. Heinrich, Associate Professor, History, Baruch College
Keynote speakers include: Thomas W. Farley, SVP, Financial Markets, ICE; Dr. Peter Leukert, FIS and Head of the Capco Institute; and Stephen Daffron, President and CEO, Interactive Data. The full conference agenda is now available for download.
Teams from Baruch College and Capco will premier designs for applications that will transform banking -- providing delegates with the opportunity to experience innovation first-hand. “To form the future of finance, we need to understand, embrace and foster innovation,” said Eric Disend, Partner and leader of Capco Digital. “We challenged these teams to show how social networks, mobile devices and other digital channels can be used to drive innovation and transform the way we bank in the very near future.”
Innovation presentations include:
- “Innovation Through Collaboration: Putting Employees at the Center” – Presented by Capco Innovation Lab, UK
- “New Mobile, New Payments: Welcome to the Virtual Credit Card Portfolio” – Presented by Baruch College, New York
- “The New iPhone Fingerprint Sensor: Implications and Potential Applications” – Presented by Capco Innovation Lab, New York
The event coincides with the publication of the latest edition of the Capco Institute Journal of Financial Transformation. Featuring articles linked to the themes of the agenda and the overall event, the Journal connect the worlds of academia and finance and aims to promote thought leadership in the areas that are shaping finance today. Capco is proud to have received the 2013 APEX Awards for Magazine Excellence awarded to the Journal earlier this year.
