NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Hand Baldachin & Amburgey LLP (HBA), a boutique transactional law firm based in New York City with a focus on media, technology, fashion/retail/lifestyle and health care, is pleased to announce Carl van der Zandt has joined the firm as partner, effective October 1, 2013.
“In addition to having negotiated a range of commercial and corporate transactions, his experience with European cross-border litigation brings valuable strategic insights to the table in connection to international business disputes.”
An experienced attorney trained in Holland and the U.S., Mr. Van der Zandt has represented scores of European enterprises with international business interests, bridging legal, cultural and linguistic differences in connection with his clients’ cross-border activities. With HBA, he will focus his practice on trans-Atlantic cross-border transactions and litigation, with an emphasis on supply chain related matters, intellectual property, technology and the creative industry. With respect to intellectual property in particular, Mr. Van der Zandt bolsters HBA’s already deep intellectual property group and brings a highly strategic, international dimension to the firm’s existing IP capabilities.
Prior to joining HBA, Mr. Van der Zandt was a founding and managing partner of the New York law firm Gusy Van der Zandt LLP, where he negotiated commercial and corporate transactions between European enterprises and a number of major U.S. multi-nationals, including Boeing, IBM, Nike, Xerox, and Microsoft.
“HBA is an ideal fit for EU companies looking to either establish U.S. operations, or increase their business dealings here without formally setting up shop,” says Mr. Van der Zandt. “I’m looking forward to working at a firm such as HBA, which provides the business acumen, transactional experience and resources to address a growing number of domestic and cross-border legal issues.”
“Carl’s extensive legal knowledge and experience on both sides of the Atlantic, combined with his keen business sense, will be a great asset for the firm,” says HBA Managing Partner Alan Baldachin. “In addition to having negotiated a range of commercial and corporate transactions, his experience with European cross-border litigation brings valuable strategic insights to the table in connection to international business disputes.”
Mr. Van der Zandt holds an LL.M. from the University of Amsterdam and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City. He lectures and publishes frequently about international and U.S. related legal issues.
