MINNETONKA, Minn.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Fairview Health Services, North Memorial Health Care and Medica have partnered to create Fairview and North Memorial Vantage with Medica, the largest accountable care organization (ACO) in Minnesota.
“Through the combination of Fairview and North Memorial, My Plan by Medica continues to make a big impact on the marketplace”
In 2012, Medica was the first health plan in the region to align with a major health care system in the development of an ACO. That ACO, Fairview Health Advantage, has successfully reengineered the approach to health care and member service. The addition of North Memorial adds 26 primary care clinics in the northwestern and western suburbs and two additional hospitals, North Memorial Medical Center and Maple Grove Hospital. Fairview and North Memorial Vantage will provide access to more than 2,500 primary and specialty care physicians, and eight hospitals.
Fairview and North Memorial Vantage is offered on Medica's private exchange, My Plan by Medica. It will be available for new and renewing groups beginning with Nov. 1, 2013, effective dates. Current Fairview Health Advantage members will also have access to North Memorial providers beginning Nov. 1, 2013.
“Through the combination of Fairview and North Memorial, My Plan by Medica continues to make a big impact on the marketplace,” said Scott Reid, Medica’s vice president of product strategy and development for commercial markets. “Nearly 25,000 members are enrolled in My Plan by Medica – with 42 percent of them choosing to receive their care through one of our four ACOs. The high enrollment rate in ACOs demonstrates that consumers value the unique service approach and access to integrated health care.”
Serving about 1.5 million members, Medica is a health insurance company headquartered in Minneapolis and active in the Upper Midwest. The non-profit company provides health care coverage in the employer, individual, Medicaid, Medicare and Medicare Part D markets in Minnesota and a growing number of counties in North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Medica also offers national network coverage to employers who also have employees outside the Medica regional network.
Medica’s vision is to become the community’s health plan of choice, trusted for its integrity, respected for its service, and admired for its commitment to innovation and efficiency.
