HARTFORD, Conn.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Aetna (NYSE: AET) is adding a self-administered option to its WorkAbility® absence management system for employers who want to manage their employees’ leaves from work without support from an outside vendor. WorkAbility Self-Administered Leave helps employers track and measure all aspects of absenteeism. This web-based software also helps keep employers compliant with leave laws and regulations, including those under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
“Leave administration is complex; it can be challenging for employers. We’re striving to ease the process”
According to recent studies by the Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI), one in four employees has taken leave under FMLA.1 And one in seven employees has had a short-term disability claim.1
“Leave administration is complex; it can be challenging for employers. We’re striving to ease the process,” said Dan Fishbein, president, Aetna Specialty Businesses. “Our self-administered solution gives employers control to manage their workforce faster and more easily. It enhances productivity and simplifies the leave administration process.”
The new self-administered leave option operates on the same WorkAbility platform as Aetna’s short-term and long-term disability products. This gives employers the advantage of integrating data and products even when they administer leaves themselves.
Aetna WorkAbility captures federal, state and company absence data in one web-based system. The self-administered solution uses this technology to equip employers with the information they need to efficiently manage leaves. It offers:
- 24-hour access to leave information for employers and employees
- Ability for employers or employees to create and update leave requests
- Forms and letters that employers can use in administering leave requests
- Flexible, easy-to-use data analysis and reporting tools for employers
- Integrated data and claim processing with Aetna-managed disability
WorkAbility continues to offer other leave and disability management solutions to meet the unique needs of employers. In addition to the stand-alone self-administered leave option, employers can choose:
- Integrated leave and disability – employer self-administers leave and Aetna manages disability claims; or
- Aetna full-service leave and disability – Aetna manages both leave and disability claims.
