DALLAS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--TIER REIT, Inc., a Dallas-based real estate investment trust, announced today that its management team was recognized with two awards by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for its leadership in portfolio-wide energy management and conservation. Additionally, two of its Philadelphia properties were presented with a regional TOBY Award (The Outstanding Building of the Year®) from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
“BOMA’s TOBY Award recognizes building quality and rewards excellence in building management. It is considered to be the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry”
“We are proud of these accomplishments,” said President Scott Fordham. “Maintaining Class A office properties and providing outstanding service to our tenants, as well as operating our properties in an energy efficient manner, are cornerstones of our ownership philosophy.”
The energy leadership awards were presented at the World Energy Engineering Congress in September in Washington, D.C. TIER REIT’s properties received the 2013 Corporate Energy Management award for outstanding accomplishments for developing, organizing, managing and implementing an outstanding corporate-wide energy management program in Region IV, a 13-state area. In addition, Tom Tolan, Vice President of Engineering for TIER REIT’s property management group, was named Region IV’s Energy Manager of the Year for his outstanding accomplishments in promoting the practices, principles and procedures of energy management.
“Our Philadelphia team was recently recognized as the winner of two prestigious awards,” said Deidre Hardister, Asset Manager for TIER REIT’s Philadelphia portfolio. “I am extremely proud of our management teams’ heartfelt dedication to building operations and tenant satisfaction.” BOMA awarded 1650 Arch the TOBY Award in the renovated category. 1650 Arch is a 27-story office building that underwent a major transformation in 2011-2012 and is located in the heart of Philadelphia’s Center City district. Improvements include a new and dramatic expanded interior public lobby and exterior upgrades, including energy efficient fittings and entrance reconfiguration. In addition, an art installation made of found objects was commissioned as part of the lobby renovations to show the beauty of recycling.
Three Parkway was named the BOMA Philadelphia TOBY Award winner in the 500,000 to one million-square-foot category. Three Parkway is a 20-story, Class A office tower located in the heart of Market Street West in Center City, Philadelphia’s primary office submarket. This building has undergone significant capital improvements including the installation of low flow water equipment, mechanical systems to ensure optimum efficiency, streetscape renovations, enhanced vehicle accommodations, and landscaping along the frontage of the Fairmount Park District.
“BOMA’s TOBY Award recognizes building quality and rewards excellence in building management. It is considered to be the most prestigious and comprehensive program of its kind in the commercial real estate industry,” said Gerald Oliver, head of property management for the TIER REIT properties. “There is a great deal of satisfaction providing this kind of award- winning management.”
