CARY, N.C.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--When protecting themselves and customers against credit risk, banks fare best when a single platform meets both business needs and regulatory requirements. SAS is a category leader, per Chartis’ Credit Risk Management Systems for the Banking Book 2013 report.
“improved model management, enterprise and real-time scoring and limits management, improved stress testing capabilities, and business intelligence tools that provide end-users with the information they need at the time they need it.”
“In addition to the comprehensive risk platform, banks using SAS credit risk solutions can benefit particularly from advanced SAS data management to deliver high-performance environments,” said Chartis Managing Partner Peyman Mestchian.
Chartis says that leaders such as SAS provide “flexible analytics, advanced stress testing engines, regulatory compliance functionality, real-time capabilities, and reporting and BI tools.” Such vendors “have the necessary depth and breadth of functionality, technology, and content, combined with the organizational characteristics to capture significant market share by volume and value.”
Chartis reports a trend toward consolidating views of customers and risk types via single data model, which requires a comprehensive capabilities comprising data management, analytics and reporting. The report observed that banks seek to pull regulatory and enterprise risk intelligence into one unified risk framework.
Per Chartis, risk analysis should be flexible and transparent. Risk systems need to “support decision making in the front office” and “align risk management with improved performance.” Achieving alignment requires “improved model management, enterprise and real-time scoring and limits management, improved stress testing capabilities, and business intelligence tools that provide end-users with the information they need at the time they need it.”
Chartis reviewed three SAS risk solutions to bestow the category leader position: SAS Credit Scoring for Banking, SAS Credit Risk Management for Banking and SAS Risk Management for Banking. The report says the SAS solution covers a range of enterprise risk management needs including credit risk, market risk, asset liability management, operational risk/GRC, liquidity risk and financial crime. SAS software’s robust risk engine provides comprehensive analytical features that can be tuned for high performance on large data. No black box, SAS is an open solution that analysts find easy to work with in defining all relationships and assumptions.
In September 2013, Chartis named SAS a leader in both its RiskTech QuadrantTM for Data Management and BI and its RiskTech QuadrantTM for Basel 3. SAS also recently ranked as a leader by Chartis for its anti-money laundering technology and operational risk management software.
