WASHINGTON--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Nostrum Energy, a technology company that creates breakthrough fuel efficiency improvements for stationary and automotive power, today announced that it has been named a semi-finalist for the Emerging Innovation Award in Securing America’s Future Energy’s (SAFE) Energy Security Prize competition. Nostrum Energy is being recognized for the Nostrum Cycle™, an innovative technology proven to provide unprecedented fuel economy improvements and emissions reductions in today’s internal combustion engine. This will be achieved without requiring changes in infrastructure or consumer behavior.
“The Nostrum Cycle™ is a significant opportunity to optimize the internal combustion engine and immediately increase the fuel efficiency of not only new cars, but the millions of existing vehicles across the U.S. and around the world.”
There is an opportunity for the public to vote for Nostrum Energy in the competition, which begins on October 2 and concludes on October 12. Please click here to vote and find out more information.
The winners will be announced at a major national energy conference, OPEC Oil Embargo +40: A National Summit on Energy Security, at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 2013. The SAFE Energy Security Prize recognizes companies whose ingenuity, leadership, and perseverance are poised to advance American energy security by helping bring an end to U.S. oil dependence. The Emerging Innovation Award recognizes companies whose technologies are driving fundamental improvements in energy security, and that have the potential to reach the market within the next five years.
Currently, the internal combustion engine in automobiles wastes up to 75 percent of the energy from fuel. To stem this waste and increase fuel efficiency, Nostrum Energy has developed a redesigned fuel injector, which can be installed in any vehicle and immediately result in a double-digit gain in miles per gallon. The redesigned fuel injector is the first in a series of innovations that comprise the Nostrum Cycle™, which will double or triple the amount of energy from fuel that goes to the wheel.
“With 254 million cars on the road today and as little as 13 percent of the energy from fuel going directly to the wheels, a substantial amount of energy is being wasted, contributing to oil dependence and high emissions levels,” said Kaushik Vyas, CEO, Nostrum Power. “The Nostrum Cycle™ is a significant opportunity to optimize the internal combustion engine and immediately increase the fuel efficiency of not only new cars, but the millions of existing vehicles across the U.S. and around the world.”
About Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE)
Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE) is a nonpartisan organization that aims to reduce America’s dependence on oil and improve U.S. energy security to bolster national security and strengthen the economy. SAFE advocates for expanded domestic production of U.S. oil and gas resources, continued improvements in fuel efficiency, and in the long-term, breaking oil’s stranglehold on the transportation sector through alternatives like natural gas for heavy-duty trucks and plug-in electric vehicles. In 2006, SAFE joined with General P.X. Kelley (Ret.), 28th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Frederick W. Smith, Chairman, President, and CEO of FedEx Corporation, to form the Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC), a group of business and former military leaders committed to reducing U.S. oil dependence.
