LOS ANGELES--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--A free, no obligation, investment seminar held by women for women will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU) in Granada Hills. The seminar, “A Woman’s Journey to Lifetime Income,” hosted by WPCCU’s CFS* Financial Advisor, Madison Luu, will feature speaker Michelle O’Haren, JD, CPA, a Certified Retirement Counselor,® and a retirement resource consultant for Pacific Life. O’Haren will address retirement and wealth management issues specific to women.
According to a 2013 study titled Women, Money & Power (Larson Research + Strategy Co.), today’s women feel more empowered about financial planning and are more responsible for financial decisions, but few feel they are armed with the information they need. The top financial subject women said they most want to learn about is how to obtain the type of retirement lifestyle they want.
Although the types of investment options that will aid in retirement are the same for women as they are for men, when it comes to retirement income planning, women face unique challenges. They also tend to have a different approach to investing. This seminar will cover a few of these unique issues as well as general investment concepts for asset accumulation and the distribution of assets in retirement.
O’Haren, a frequent lecturer on financial planning, began her 25-year career in the tax department of a major accounting firm, later working as a financial planner for two major insurance companies and in advanced marketing and education roles with broker-dealer firms and financial services companies. She obtained her BBA degree in accountancy, and her JD from University of Notre Dame.
The seminar will be held at WPCCU Northridge/Granada Hills branch, 16840 Devonshire Blvd., Granada Hills, 91344. It is free, and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are required as seating is limited. For additional information, please call 1-800-300-9728 x 1623, or visit online at wpcu.org.
