LOS ANGELES--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. today announced its first donation of education funding resulting from its EdAhead™ initiative, the nation’s first education savings initiative with a multiple match. The company created the EdAhead initiative to support its commitment to education across the communities it serves. The first EdAhead commitment of $250,000 is being donated to the Santa Monica Malibu Education Foundation and includes a $180,000 cash donation that is based on the matched amount of contributions the company’s Malibu employees made to their 529 Education accounts as part of the EdAhead initiative in 2012 (www.EdAhead.org). Other education donations will come from Dun & Bradstreet Credibility offices later this year in North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Arizona.
“Our EdAhead initiative was launched out of our belief that there is no more pressing issue than education in this country”
Through the EdAhead program, the company matches employees’ contributions to their college education plans (up to a set amount each year), adding the match to each employee’s account on an annual basis (grossing up the amount so that the employee gets the full benefit of the match amount). The company then totals up the matched amounts for each office and donates an additional amount to education programs at the school districts where each office resides. The commitment to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation will benefit all of the public schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, which is the home district for the company’s headquarters in Malibu, CA.
As part of its commitment, the company has agreed to match dollar for dollar up to $150,000, through December 20th, all donations to the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation to support its Annual Fund drive currently taking place.
Additional funds will be made available towards a new high school internship program at the Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. headquarters in Malibu during the summer of 2014, as well as a scholarship program for those students who complete the program. The company will additionally be sponsoring the October 6th Santa Monica 5000 run (www.santamonica5000.com), which benefits the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation.
“Our EdAhead initiative was launched out of our belief that there is no more pressing issue than education in this country,” said Jeff Stibel, Chairman and CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. “With EdAhead, we are actively leading the effort and establishing the importance of higher education, for our employees, their children and the communities where we work. We are excited to be making our first EdAhead donation through this major commitment, especially since a portion of it gives the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation the means to raise even more money through a matching gift initiative. It is a program that is really paying it forward.”
“To be the beneficiary of an ongoing program like Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp.’s EdAhead initiative shows how local companies can become meaningful and creative partners in the education of the children where their employees work and live,” said Linda Greenberg Gross, Executive Director of the Santa Monica-Malibu Education Foundation. “We appreciate the amount of thought and time that Dun & Bradstreet Credibility has put into supporting public schools and our District’s Vision for Student Success, and are excited about the internship and scholarship program we are developing with the company. Dun & Bradstreet Credibility truly cares about the way our children are learning and how we can work together as a community to help them succeed in K-12, college and beyond.”
Other school districts that will be receiving donations this year based on the location of Dun & Bradstreet Credibility offices include: Bethlehem Area School District; Guilford County Schools; Millburn Township Public Schools; Tempe Elementary School District and Tempe Union High School District; and Tucson Unified School District.
The company hopes that other companies will join in the cause and also offer EdAhead programs for their employees and is planning a future 2013 campaign to educate and encourage such participation.
EdAhead is the first education savings plan with a multiple match. Employee contributions activate a match by company dollars as well as a donation to local public schools. EdAhead is sparked by the power of personal action, gains momentum through the company’s shared commitment and multiplies the benefit in communities close to our homes. EdAhead is an initiative introduced by Dun & Bradstreet Credibility. Dun & Bradstreet Credibility’s EdAhead plan is being administered by Putnam 529 for AmericaSM.
