MILTON KEYNES, United Kingdom--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--AirWatch®, the largest Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider, announces that AVASAD selected AirWatch to enable its medical staff with secure mobile access to resources such as patient data. AVASAD deployed 3,000 smartphones and 1,000 tablets to make required corporate resources available to healthcare staff on the move.
“Mobile access to patient information and protecting sensitive patient data are essential for healthcare institutions”
AVASAD’s medical staff use mobile devices to access and complete real-time patient records, show information to patients and to process instant invoices. Olivier Baillod, senior IT manager at AVASAD, explains the association’s mobility strategy: "In terms of time and money, we can very quickly achieve a ROI from mobile devices, as healthcare professionals reduce their visits to medical centres and spend more time with clients and AVASAD reduce the number of landline phones. After an initial pilot deployment of 800 devices, equipped with a business application that provides access to patient records, we decided to use the AirWatch solution with a Cloud deployment to reduce operating costs and improve data security."
By the end of 2013, AVASAD plans to deploy an additional 2,300 mobile devices with two major functionalities: secure access to corporate emails to enable daily schedules to be sent to medical staff via email, and the implementation of an enterprise app store with recommended medical applications to be used by employees. AVASAD will deploy the AirWatch mobile content management (MCM) solution Secure Content Locker™ to securely distribute documents in 2014.
"Mobile access to patient information and protecting sensitive patient data are essential for healthcare institutions,” says Ian Evans, managing director EMEA, AirWatch. “Our R&D team continuously develops innovative tools such as the Secure Content Locker to meet the specific needs of our clients in the healthcare industry."
AVASAD employs 4,000 staff in 52 medical centres. The association is responsible for implementing aid and home care policies as well as measures for health promotion and disease prevention across the Vaud territory in Switzerland. The organisation helps patients to remain in their place of living despite health issues or disabilities.
