ARVADA, Colo.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Colorado Gives Day, an online giving initiative created by Community First Foundation and supported by Colorado’s largest locally owned bank and corporate partner FirstBank, returns on Tuesday, December 10.
“Even though Colorado Gives Day is about increasing philanthropy in the state, we understand people want to donate to causes they care about. That’s why we need as many nonprofits, across many different categories and industries, to participate.”
The initiative, which is in its fourth year and aims to increase philanthropy in Colorado, has added several nonprofit cash prizes courtesy of the bank, totaling $100,000. FirstBank has committed $600,000 in total to this year’s program which, in addition to the prizes, includes the FirstBank Incentive Fund and financial contributions to help cover credit card processing fees, so that 100% of all donations go to nonprofits on Colorado Gives Day.
“FirstBank’s contributions to Colorado Gives Day are integral to its success,” said Marla J. Williams, president and CEO of Community First Foundation. “Cash prizes are exciting for both donors and the nonprofits they love. They’re an added incentive for people to donate on Dec. 10 and provide an extra boost to the nonprofits.”
FirstBank’s prizes will consist of ten $1,000 prizes and 18 prizes worth $5,000 each. The $1,000 prizes will be awarded to nonprofits chosen by randomly selected participants who answer online trivia questions correctly. The trivia questions will be posted one week before Colorado Gives Day (Dec. 2 – Dec. 6) on FirstBank’s Facebook page. Each trivia winner will select a nonprofit profiled on ColoradoGives.org, the platform for Colorado Gives Day, to receive the prize. Winners will be announced on the FirstBank social media pages and the ColoradoGives Facebook and Twitter pages.
To be eligible to receive one of FirstBank’s $5,000 prizes, nonprofits must receive a minimum of 30 donations on Colorado Gives Day. Eighteen of these organizations will be randomly selected to win. Winners will be announced in January.
All cash prizes will be distributed to the winning nonprofits in January 2014.
“We’re ecstatic FirstBank is able to contribute $600,000 this year and give nonprofits an extra incentive to get involved in Colorado Gives Day,” said John Ikard, president and CEO of FirstBank Holding Company. “Even though Colorado Gives Day is about increasing philanthropy in the state, we understand people want to donate to causes they care about. That’s why we need as many nonprofits, across many different categories and industries, to participate.”
Colorado Gives Day has raised nearly $40 million for Colorado nonprofits since 2010.
In addition to FirstBank, the following sponsors are back to support Colorado Gives Day this year:
