SAN ANTONIO--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Visionworks, the largest wholly owned U.S.-based optical retailer, is teaming up with the San Antonio chapter of The First Tee to offer free vision screenings during the organization’s youth event on Saturday, October 5. The event will take place at the Polo Field Golf Center and vision screenings will be conducted between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“Studies have shown that children who have undiagnosed vision problems may perform more poorly in school, suffer from lack of self-confidence and may even have behavioral issues, so providing vision care services can impact these children’s lives in a meaningful way.”
For children who are in need of vision correction or further examination, Visionworks will be providing vouchers for free eye exams at optometrists located next door to Visionworks stores and glasses at any of the company’s 13 locations in the San Antonio area.
“Visionworks is a proud member of the San Antonio community, and we are passionate about increasing access to vision care for our fellow residents,” Jim Eisen, president of Visionworks, said. “Studies have shown that children who have undiagnosed vision problems may perform more poorly in school, suffer from lack of self-confidence and may even have behavioral issues, so providing vision care services can impact these children’s lives in a meaningful way.”
Attendees of The First Tee event will learn how to incorporate life enhancing and healthy habits through the game of golf. Clinics will be taught by trained coaches and golf professionals who will help children learn skills such as managing emotions, setting goals and resolving conflict.
“The values of The First Tee align with our brand promise of ‘A Better You’ which not only drives our selection and value, but also the way we treat our employees and our customers,” Eisen said.
Partnership with The First Tee is part of Visionworks sponsorship as official eyewear retailer of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour. Throughout the tournament season, Visionworks has sponsored the player health and fitness trailers at all PGA TOUR events, and offered free vision screenings at select tournaments.
