BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Onionflix, a Beverly Hills based media company, announced it has committed $100,000 to buy videos from third-party amateur and professional filmmakers to showcase emotionally inspiring videos that encourage motivation, philanthropy, and compassion. Videos to be featured on the newly launched website www.onionflix.com may include short films, interviews, documentaries, and scripted stories. Filmmakers will be given the option to partner with Onionflix and receive 90% of the advertising revenues, compared to the standard 50% share that most studios provide. Onionflix will also host a YouTube channel to showcase the videos and will increase viewership and revenues by focusing on post production, music, and search optimization.

“Onionflix films tug at the heartstrings and inspire viewers to do something good,” said founder Bennett Kim. Kim is also Chief Investment Officer of real estate firm Big Rock Partners, an investment firm that has owned and managed over $800 million in assets. Previously, Kim has worked at Apollo Real Estate Advisors, Oaktree Capital Management, Merrill Lynch, and Disney.
The Onionflix board of advisors includes YouTube stars, David Choi and Mike Song, along with new media strategist, Benny Luo. The advisors collectively have more than 1.1 million subscribers and 116 million views from their YouTube videos as well as over 170,000 followers on Twitter. They will help promote the channel through Twitter and YouTube, significantly raising the visibility of Onionflix filmmakers. The company aims to at least double the number of views and increase CPM for their filmmaker partners.
David Choi is singer/songwriter/producer whose songs and tracks have been heard on NBC, FOX, VH1, MTV, A&E, E!, Travel Channel, Style, PBS, Food Network, Disney, retail stores all over the USA, as well as in national commercials overseas. Mike Song is a renowned choreographer and dancer, who has been a creative force behind dance crews and projects such as America’s Best Dance Crew’s Kaba Modern, Step Up Revolution, BLAZE: World Tour, and KINJAZ. Most recently, Song made two appearances on The Ellen Degeneres Show including a performance from his viral hit video, "Gangnam Style Mom." Benny Luo is the Founder of NewMediaRockstars.com, a popular publication covering the online video and new media space.
