ST. LOUIS--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) just a few months away, small and large businesses face important decisions about how to best provide their employees with health benefits. To help them navigate through the changes and select the option best suited for their business, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri announced today the launch of web-based tools that will be available to small and large employers as well as brokers free of charge.
“We know the implementation of the Affordable Care Act presents many opportunities for small and large businesses alike and making an informed decision will be critical to ensure they can provide their employees with health care benefits that are also financially sustainable for the business”
Although small businesses with fewer than 50 employees will have access to a variety of health benefits plans through both the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) and the off exchange market, deciding what will work best for their business and their employees can be confusing. The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri ACA Decision Support and Financial Analysis tools will provide employers with a customized analysis of the ACA’s impact as well as a variety of possible strategies and scenarios based on their unique business needs.
Similar to commercial financial planning software, the tools will intuitively guide users through a series of questions to gather information to create a custom analysis for the business while helping to provide added education about the variables and the calculations. The customized report for the broker or business will provide more than ten scenarios for employers to evaluate such as: potential tax liability under the “play or pay” tax, exchange coverage subsidy calculator and small business health care tax credit eligibility test. Most importantly, the report will provide employers with a financial analysis and considerations regarding coverage options including “play or pay” and purchasing on or off the health insurance marketplace (exchange).
“We know the implementation of the Affordable Care Act presents many opportunities for small and large businesses alike and making an informed decision will be critical to ensure they can provide their employees with health care benefits that are also financially sustainable for the business,” said Steve Martenet, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. “We are pleased to offer free tools that can help them make a decision that will support their business model.”
The free decision support tools can be found on Anthem’s website at: www.makinghealthcarereformwork.com.
