TOLEDO, Ohio--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Inc.com, the online arm of Inc. magazine, has ranked American Posts, LLC of Toledo number 1745 in its annual list of the 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America. The list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy – America’s independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
“We are an American company using domestic resources, providing jobs, and reinvesting in our local and national economy”
Inc. also ranked American Posts 41st among manufacturing companies, and 55th among Ohio’s top 100 companies. Past Inc. honorees have included Microsoft, Timberland, Vizio, Intuit, Jamba Juice, Oracle, and Zappos.com.
Founded in 2005 as a manufacturer of the familiar, green steel u-post used by homeowners, farmers, landscapers, and contractors, American Posts quickly became the “last post standing” as every other maker of the product succumbed to foreign competition.
American Posts was determined to fight back. Automating its production technique and adopting a lean and mean manufacturing philosophy, American Post took up the challenge using American steel, American labor, and the American spirit of entrepreneurship.
American Posts is winning. Increasing its market share of U.S. sales from 2% in 2005 to 20% in 2012, production increased from a half million units in 2006 to more than 6 million six years later. Sales and output are still growing. American Posts has set a goal to capture 40 – 50% of domestic big box store sales by 2015.
Based on its success, American Posts has expanded its product line to include posts for concertina wire fences, highway mile marker posts, galvanized posts for chain link fences, and even supports for car ports.
This is American Posts’ second prestigious award during 2013. In May, the company received the End-User Efficiency Initiative of the Year Award during the Platts Global Metals Awards, a competitive program honoring excellence and accomplishments within the global metals industry.
To American Posts, these awards affirm their basic business plan. “We are an American company using domestic resources, providing jobs, and reinvesting in our local and national economy,” says David Feniger, President of American Posts.
