JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--In satirical “celebration” of the income tax’s 100th anniversary, a North Florida accounting firm invites artists to design a card wishing the Form 1040 a “happy birthday.”
“We’re offering a creative outlet, whether it’s a professional in the financial industry or a child learning about the tax system for the first time.”
Patrick & Robinson CPAs, with offices in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra, is sponsoring the contest through mid October.
“This contest is for anyone fed up with the current income tax code, and there’s a lot of us — including CPAs,” says partner Mark Patrick. “We’re offering a creative outlet, whether it’s a professional in the financial industry or a child learning about the tax system for the first time.”
The contest is open to all ages. Guidelines and submission forms are available online at www.CPAsite.com. Entries are due by 5pm on Tuesday, October 15 and a panel of judges will review the entries and select the winning design.
Card designs should feature something unique regarding the 1040 Form, and humor is encouraged. Entry into the contest acknowledges that the artist’s submissions may be reproduced by the firm as part of Patrick & Robinson CPAs’ “What Were They Thinking?” celebration.
For each card received, Patrick & Robinson will donate $10 to Family Foundations, contributing to the community’s financial fitness. Each participant may submit up to five entries.
The winning card will be selected by October 21 and available for download on Patrick & Robinson CPAs’ website.
“We’ll be asking others to download the card, write a personal message and send it to members of Congress. We hope the cards will encourage dialogue on the complexity of the tax code and express the need for reform,” Patrick says.
