Norman A. Bloch, a partner in the Business Litigation group, focuses his practice on white-collar criminal matters and civil litigation. He represents businesses and individuals in fraud (including mortgage fraud, health care fraud, customs fraud, insider trading and securities fraud, government contract fraud, student loan fraud and bank fraud), FCPA, export controls, public corruption, environmental, antitrust, labor racketeering, perjury, and RICO investigations and prosecutions conducted by federal, state and foreign authorities.
Katherine D. Brandt, partner-in-charge of the New York office and a former leader of the Commercial & Public Finance group, focuses her practice on the development, negotiation and documentation of complex commercial loan transactions, private debt, equity and mezzanine placements, structured finance transactions, creditors’ rights matters and sales and other dispositions of assets.
Douglas E. Grover, a partner in the Business Litigation group, focuses his practice on white-collar criminal matters and civil litigation. He has represented and tried cases for individuals, businesses and government agents in matters involving campaign finance violations, government corruption, environmental crimes, tax crimes, antitrust crimes, securities violations, insider trading and fraud. He has represented corporations in criminal investigations involving workplace deaths, bribery of government officials, theft of funds from federally funded organizations, undocumented alien employees, theft of trade secrets and corporate espionage, internet sales of misbranded pharmaceuticals, student loan lending practices and environmental violations. In many of these matters he has conducted internal investigations.
Michael G. Shannon, a partner in the Business Litigation group, defends broker-dealers, brokers and clearing firms and represents members of the financial services industry in litigations, arbitrations, mediations and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience with hundreds of SRO securities arbitration claims (including more than 60 clearing firm cases) involving a wide range of substantive issues including fraud, suitability, margin, unauthorized trading, regulatory violations, marketing and sales, churning, raiding and SIPC.
Mario J. Suarez, a partner in the Real Estate group, has considerable experience in complex commercial real estate transactions, construction, and domestic and international commercial transactions. He focuses his practice on the acquisition and disposition of commercial buildings and building portfolios; office and retail leasing and related transactions; representation of institutional and non-institutional equity investors; joint venture transactions; representation of lenders and borrowers with respect to construction and permanent loans and structured financings; workouts and restructurings; construction and design relationships; sale-leaseback and ground lease development and financings; international real estate development; and zoning, land-use and landmark designation matters. He also has related corporate transaction and litigation experience.
George J. Walsh III, a partner in the Real Estate group, has more than 40 years of experience in real estate law. His national, regional and local practice includes all aspects of purchasing, selling, leasing and financing commercial properties. He has represented a wide cross-section of retailers including large national chains, department store anchor tenants and “big box” mass merchandisers. Walsh’s experience in the shopping center industry has earned him a reputation for both his business acumen and his ability to handle difficult or complicated transactions. A skilled negotiator with solid people skills and industry-wide contacts, he is particularly adept at guiding challenging deals through to successful closing.

James M. Roberts, an associate in the Business Litigation group, focuses his practice in the area of white-collar criminal defense and investigations. He has represented multinational corporations, financial institutions and individuals in matters involving the FCPA, OFAC sanctions, mail fraud, wire fraud, securities fraud, tax law and environmental regulations. He routinely handles matters arising from investigations led by the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, New York State Attorney General’s Office and local prosecutors’ offices. He regularly conducts confidential board-level internal investigations on behalf of public and private companies.
Jonathan B. Ross, a New York and UK qualified partner in the Commercial & Public Finance and Business Litigation groups, represents financial institutions and funds active in the debt capital markets, in particular performing advisory, agency, banking and trustee roles. He advises clients in connection with secured and securitized bonds (including RMBS related matters), project finance (energy, infrastructure and transportation) and secured lending (including cross-border collateral, in particular in Latin America and the EU). Ross is a member of the firm’s international committee and has practiced in London, New York and Paris.
